Motivational Speaker George Burk
From Brian Anderson, Firefighter
I’ve arranged for a friend of mine, George Burk to be a guest speaker at our Union’s Pasta Dinner at the VFW on Saturday, December 13th.
He’s a motivational speaker, Vietnam Vet (with Bronze Star) and sole survivor of a plane crash in Vietnam in which 14 others perished. He was burned over 65% of his body and wasn’t expected to live, then spent 18 months in the hospital recovering. He speaks all over the place and has written several books, articles and his story was on The Discovery Channel. He goes to FDNY’s recruit training school and Phoenix FD’s academy all the time to speak about survival and dealing with Post Traumatic Stress but you can read all about him on his website www.georgeburk.com
Our dinner is open to anyone, not just union firefighters. Tickets are available through any Waterford fulltime firefighter and the price is $10.00. There is also going to be a drawing one thing I’ve already recieved is a John Travolta autographed Ladder 49 poster…..I know you police officers want that…lol….but they’ll be other stuff too.
I’d like to get the word out to all first responders (police officers, firefighters, emt’s) and military personnel, especially those who have just returned from duty overseas who may be in need of listening to words of advice from someone who has lived it first hand for the past 38 years.
Thanks,
Brian
