On Saturday, April 25, 2009 at approximately 6:38 p.m., the Waterford Emergency Communications Center received numerous calls for a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of Boston Post Road, at its intersection with Fog Plain Road and Ellen Ward Road within the town of Waterford, CT.

Waterford Police, Fire and Ambulance services, along with Lawrence and Memorial Paramedics responded to the scene. Waterford Fire Police assisted in establishing road closures and detour points.

A passenger car traveling east on Boston Post Road was struck in the rear end by a motorcycle which was also traveling cast bound. The operator of the motorcycle was thrown from the vehicle. The motorcycle operator was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for numerous injuries to include head trauma> None of the occupants of the passenger vehicle reported any injuries at the scene. All operator information was not readily available at the time of this release.

The roadway remained closed for approximately one and one half hours while the accident scene was processed and vehicles were removed.

The accident remains under investigation by the Waterford Police Department. Any person(s) who may have witnessed the accident, or may have information regarding the time period leading up to this accident, are urged to contact the Waterford Police Department at (860)442-9451.
