2 car motor vehicle accident and double fatality, RTE 32

On Sunday, April 24, 2009, at approximately 01:41a.m, the Waterford Police
Department responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a two car motor vehicle accident with injuries on Rt.32 at the intersection with Old Norwich Rd. The Montville Police Department also responded due to the close proximity of the Waterford and Montville town line. Montville officers were the first to arrive on scene and confirmed that injuries were present.
The two vehicles involved were identified as a 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup truck color blue, and a 2005 Scion TC color blue. The preliminary investigation indicated that the Scion contained four occupants, and the Dodge Dakota contained one occupant. The male driver and a female passenger from the Scion were pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other male passengers from the Scion were being treated for injuries at Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT.
The male driver from the pick-up track was being treated for injuries at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, CT. The identity of the individuals present within both vehicles, and the registration information for the vehicles involved is being withheld at this time pending notification of family members.
This remains an active investigation, and is being conducted by members of the Waterford Police Department Accident Investigation Team.
