Waterford Police Department Wraps up this phase of “Click It or Ticket, WAVE 35 Mobilization”

by Waterford Police PBA on December 1st, 2009

The Waterford Police Department and hundreds of other law enforcement agencies across the country, in an effort to save lives, joined together in the 2008 “Click It or Ticket, WAVE 37 Mobilization”.  During this phase of the mobilization, which ran from November 16 – November 29, 2009, Waterford Officers conducted 100’s of traffic stops and 2 four hour check points which resulted in the writing of approximately 220 citations and 110 written warnings to the motoring public. The enforcement period focused on seatbelt violations, but many speeding and other motor vehicle violations were also enforced.  In addition, approximately 15 unregistered  and uninsured vehicles were towed from the public roadways and 3 DUI arrests were made as a result of the stepped-up enforcement intensity during this Click It or Ticket Campaign.

The Waterford Police Department urges all motorists to continue to voluntarily participate in safe, responsible motor vehicle operation, and 100% compliance with Connecticut seatbelt safety laws. Waterford Police Department will continue to target DUI and Seatbelt Compliance through the upcoming Christmas/New Year holiday period and beyond.  Not wearing your seatbelt might cost you a ticket, or worse – your life.  Remember – CLICK IT OR TICKET!
