Waterford Police Union donates to Veterans Transition Home

by Waterford Police PBA on February 24th, 2010

The Waterford Police Union donated $500 to the New London HHC Veterans Transitional Home. The first phase of the project is the acquisition and rehabilitation of a four family house on Mountain Ave in New London. The transitional housing is expected to help about a dozen homeless veterans each year and is designed to offer the homeless veteran who is “willing to work, to return to a contributing role in society”. They will also receive counseling and assistance while they are working. This is not a free ride and the veteran will have to work towards getting back on their feet and eventually move out of the transition housing.

There will be a benfit for the Veterans Transition Home on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Preston VFW-Post 9452, 28 Spicer Road, Preston CT, from 6pm to 11pm, with a social hour, dinner, guest speakers and a dance.
