Waterford and New London Police team up to catch suspect

Waterford CT- Waterford Police and New London Police teamed up on the evening of March 20, 2010 to catch a wanted suspect, Jamel Williams, who was wanted by New London Police for an outstanding arrest warrant and domestic violence charges.

New London Police recieved information that the suspect was last seen in the area of a motel, the Roadway Inn on Parkway North in Waterford.  Waterford officers responded to the motel in an attempt to locate the suspect officers observed Williams running across Cross Road and into a wooded/swampy area near Lowes.

With the assistance of Oswegatchie Fire Department and the Connecticut State Police Troop E, a perimeter was established to contain the suspect.  Members of the fire department provided thermal imagining equipment and high intensity lighting to help locate the suspect.

As a result of the cooperation of the police and fire services the suspect was located in a swampy area just off Cross Road.  K-9 Units from New London Police and the Connecticut State Police helped track the suspect.

Williams was eventually located in a thick brush area and was taken into custody by Waterford and New London Police Officers.

New London Police transported the suspect back to their department for processing.
