8^th Annual Ahn’s Memorial Run, “Vets Helping Vets”, Sunday, August 15^th, 2010 Sponsored by Preston VFW Post 9452 and the Freedom Riders USA.  Proceeds will benefit a scholarship fund in memory USMC Cpl. Kemaphoom “Ahn” Chanawongse & the Homeless Vets Transition Home, in New London, CT, Reg 10-Noon ($20) at Preston VFW, 28 Spicer Road, Preston, CT, rain or shine, info 860-437-1777 or 860-961-9253. The Freedom Riders USA sponsor this event at the request of Ahn’s friends and family to honor his memory and the memory of all of Connecticut’s Fallen Heroes.  We would be proud to have you join us as a supporting event co-sponsor, if you could provide any suitable cash donation or donated item to use as raffle or winning hand prize. Your contribution will assist us raising the funds necessary as in years past, to supplement the scholarship fund in honor of Ahn, but in addition this year, since the scholarship fund is almost self-sustaining, Ahn’s family wishes for 75% of the funds raised, should go to a cause that helps more Veterans in South Eastern Connecticut.  This year the cause they have chosen, is the “Veterans Transitional Home”, being established in New London, CT.  Its a program which has been established provide temporary housing  for homeless Veterans of Southeastern Connecticut, who wish to participate in a structured program which will assist reacquire the tools necessary for them to transition back to a productive role in the community; proudly working and living on their own again.  25% of the proceeds from this years run will be used to replenish the scholarship fund but 75% will benefit the Veterans Transitional Home.
