| Officers to become Drug Recognition Experts |

Officers Gil Maffeo and Marc Balestracci have been selected by the State of Connecticut to become Drug Recognition Experts, (DRE). Both officers have been very active in enforcing Driving Under the Influence complaints throughout their careers at the Waterford Police Department. The training to reach DRE status is extensive and will involve several weeks of classroom training and numerous evaluations on subjects who are under the influence of alcohol and other drugs.
